AIDEN SINCLAIR: ILLUSIONS OF THE PASSED
Though I studied video in high school, it was this video, shot in the summer of 2013, that was my first real video project as an "adult" that opened my eyes both to the world of video and photography. I work at an enrichment-oriented summer program at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado every summer, and I filmed this in my first year as an administrator, trying to echo at the time the work of Devin Graham as I tried to capture the spirit and energy of the camp that the kids call "the glow," this undefinable feeling that keeps the kids coming back, year after year.
This project, of course, being my first, was fraught with problems. Needless to say, the camera is not particularly high quality (I think it was a Canon T3i), and I was editing on my old (old) laptop, which was laggy as hell. And of course, before my final edit could be completed, I dropped the hard drive with all the footage (not backed up) down a set of stairs. So this was as good as it was going to get. But, not only am I proud of this video still (it really does seem to capture the feel of the place), it's an excellent place to look back upon in my video career: the place where it really started.
