Weddings by Karl

 

If it's not clear by now, some of my biggest interests in photography are portraits and mysticism. I love the place where the world seems as if to bend or crack at places where emotion reaches extremes. Where on the one hand, I focus on horror and the supernatural in my conceptual photography, it's with weddings that I find the other side, where the sublime and those moments of true love reach a kind of manifestation that makes the world that much more beautiful, even if for an afternoon or evening.

 

When I shoot a wedding, I shoot the entire day, from the prep work and the jitters to the DJ packing his laptop and speakers away as the wait staff clear the last of the tablecloths. And when it's all over, I hope to present the couple a piece of the magic, captured forever, for them to look back upon and remember as if it were yesterday.
